On Wednesday, July 28 Girls Write Now joined the employees of HarperCollins for networking and professional development through Girls Write Now’s college and career readiness program, Writing Works, giving young women and gender-expansive youth access and exposure to industries in need of their talents.
At this workshop, HarperCollins and Girls Write Now met for an intergenerational exchange to help teen writers take their college application personal statements to the next level! HarperCollins employees—“Mentors for the Day”— answered questions about their professional journey and worked with mentees to strengthen their essays in small group breakout rooms. Mentees learned to take their college application personal statements to the next level with the support of Girls Write Now teaching artist, mentor and NYU professor, Susanna Horng—then they met the pros from HarperCollins who personally helped them edit their work!
