Our Brilliant Friends, an After Dinner Book Club & Watch Party hosted by Europa Editions, recently partnered with Girls Write Now for the final episode of the series, which ran every Monday at 9PM EST and celebrated the Elena Ferrante novels and the HBO adaptation of My Brilliant Friend. All proceeds raised from the event went to support Girls Write Now, and together we raised over $5K to support the next generation of writers and media makers.
Speakers at the event included Elena Ferrante’s translator Ann Goldstein, writer and educator Darcey Steinke (Flash Count Diary, Sister Golden Hair), writer and literary critic John Freeman (Freeman’s), writer and feminist activist Jamia Wilson (Road Map for Revolutionaries, The ABCs of AOC), journalist and author Elizabeth Mitchell (Lincoln’s Lie, forthcoming in October), and Europa’s Editor in Chief Michael Reynolds.
This event was by Europa Editions in partnership with the Brooklyn Public Library, LitFilm, Girls Write Now, and Bookshop.org.
Speakers and participants dove into conversation about literature in translation, the experience of girlhood, and how we use literature to process events in our own lives. Thank you Europa for bringing together such a great group to spend our evening with!
