Letters with Young Writers and WarnerMedia

Save the Last Word: A Space for Healing

On Friday, December 4th, WarnerMedia’s “Global Volunteer Day”, WarnerMedia and Girls Write Now met for an intergenerational exchange during this time of global crisis and cultural upheaval. Led by Girls Write Now, Mentees had a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of a major Mass Media and Entertainment company (HBO, DC Comics, Cartoon Network, CNN and more!), talk directly with talented professionals in the industry about career paths, and share their feelings, perspectives, and ideas in the form of letters to WarnerMedia employees. Meanwhile, WarnerMedia employees—“Mentors for the Day”—learned about the concerns of diverse New York City youth in the midst of COVID-19 and a growing movement for racial justice, share their professional journeys and career advice, answer mentees’ burning questions, then wrote letters to help support them through this unusual and anxiety-producing season.

Girls Write Now Stands in Solidarity with the AAPI Community
