Friday, May 8th featured another installment of our Friday Night Salon Series, I remember. I believe. I am. with poet, author, educator, and producer Samantha Thornhill. Our Friday Night Salons— now open to the public— are a space for our community to learn from and write with some incredible authors, poets, journalists, and novelists. The Girls Write Now Friday Night Salon Series is an extension of our Writing Works Program.
Samantha Thornhill is a poet, children’s author, educator, and producer from Trinidad & Tobago. This global performer has a versatile body of work that she has shared on stages from Swaziland to Seattle. Her poems have been published widely in anthologies, journals and magazines. For a decade in New York City, Samantha taught poetry to acting majors at the Juilliard School. She also taught high school youth, as well as senior citizens. Samantha’s most recent publication, A Card For My Father is the first title in a trilogy of picture books exploring the lasting effects of a father’s incarceration on his first-grade daughter, Flora. Her poetry collection Ascending Odes is forthcoming.
