VOICE TO VOICE: THE 2015 GIRLS WRITE NOW ANTHOLOGY

GWN_Anthology2015_bookstack

Voice to Voice: The 2015 Girls Write Now Anthology is now available on Amazon.

Girls Write Now is excited to release this year’s award-winning anthology, Voice to Voice at the Girls Write Now Awards Gala. This literary celebration showcases the girls and their mentors’ best work, from poetry and fiction to screenplays and memoirs. Our girls tackle big issues, such as race relations and abuse, as well current feelings on social media, self-esteem and family dynamics. This year, author, activist, and this year’s Awards emcee, Marianne Pearl, has written a poignant foreword: “Girls Write Now gives us the chance to share these young girls’ feelings and experiences, carefully narrated from the heart, intimate enough to touch the universal. This anthology is a read for all generations, cultures and for anyone who has an interest in the future.”

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie says, “I wish for every reader who opens this book the same feeling I had when I first met Girls Write Now: inspiration.” Praise for the anthology comes from countless authors, including Emily St. John Mandel (Station Eleven), Quiara Alegría Hudes (Water by the Spoonful), Janet Mock (Redefining Realness), Andrea Davis Pinkney (The Red Pencil), Julie Salamon (Wendy and the Lost Boys), and more.

More on Voice to Voice:

“I can’t overstate how important Girls Write Now is for giving young women a platform to tell their stories.”

— Isaac Fitzgerald, Buzzfeed Books

“I’m delighted and moved to have encountered such talented and vibrant young writers.”

— Emily St. John Mandel, author of Station Eleven

“What an honor it is to hear the cries, charges, and cheers of a brilliant generation of sister-writers.”

— Janet Mock, author of Redefining Realness

“As a journalist, I believe in the power of storytelling: to shed light, to move people, to effect change…and I believe girls need to be able to take control of their stories and launch them into the world. Girls WRite Now helps to harness that magic and make it happen.”

— Juju Chang, Co-Anchor of ABC News Nightline

The Girls Write Now anthology has been recognized as the Outstanding Book of the Year in the Independent Publisher Book Awards, and has earned additional honors from the International Book Awards, National Indie Excellence Awards, Next Generation Indie Book Awards, the New York Book Festival, the San Francisco Book Festival, and the Paris Book Festival.

GIVE. WRITE. NOW. And Thank you!!

Girls Write Now’s services are more essential than ever before—serving the hardest hit communities—and many of our young women and gender nonconforming youth have themselves become essential workers to help their families. They carry an enormous burden and face devastating loss, slipping further into poverty. To meet the need, we have enriched and extended our programs, leading the historical transition to virtual learning.
