QWERTY: Girls Write Now Digital Media Exhibition

June 4, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

In Girls Write Now’s cutting edge Digital Media Mentoring Program, girls create at the intersection of language, technology, and art. The professional women in media who serve as mentors support teens as they explore writing through video and audio production, interaction design, creative programming, animation, and more.

The QWERTY Digital Media Exhibition showcases innovative genre- and medium-bending work by NYC teens (take a look at a preview of some their pieces). Keynote guest speakers include writer, editor and public speaker Ashley C. Ford, Executive Communications Senior Associate at Google Kayla Conti, black feminist culture writer for Revelist Evette Dionne, and Girls Write Now mentor and Digital Producer Bec Susan Gill. Don’t miss it! June 4, 6-8PM at Downtown Community Television Center, 87 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10013.

QWERTY is the culmination of Girls Write Now’s 2016 Digital Media Mentoring Program in partnership with Parsons The New School for Design. This program is made possible with leadership funding from the New York City Council STARS Citywide Girls Initiative, The Edmond de Rothschild Foundation, Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller Fund, News Corp, Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
