For nearly 20 years, Girls Write Now has been dedicated to mentoring the next generation of women. The Girls Write Now Awards celebrate the fearless leaders who are evolving the narrative and igniting change for our girls. Join us at this year’s Fifth Girls Write Now Awards on Tuesday, May 23rd at City Winery, NYC.
This year’s honorees include:
ZADIE SMITH, author of Swing Time, who will receive the “Rise Speak Change” Award
SOPHIA AMORUSO, Author & Founder of Girlboss
ILANA GLAZER, Co-creator & Co-star, Broad City
MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY, Editor-at-Large, Elle.com
ABBI JACOBSON, Co-creator & Co-star Broad City
ELAINE WELTEROTH, Editor of Teen Vogue, as emcee for the evening
The event will include a cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres, awards program, performance by a Girls Write Now mentor-mentee pair, and a live auction to support our future. The evening will also be marked by the release of Rise Speak Change: The 2017 Girls Write Now Anthology. The Awards support the rollout of a three-year strategic plan to double the number of girls we serve, to enrich and extend our college prep and alumnae services, and to elevate the voices of today’s most vulnerable, young women of color. Never has our mission been more relevant or urgent.
