WRITING WORKS: LETTERS WITH YOUNG WRITERS WITH FORBES
August 5 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
On Wednesday, August 5, Forbes and Girls Write Now meet for an intergenerational exchange through the act of letter writing.
Young writers, “Mentees For The Day,” and Forbes employees, “Mentors For The Day,” will be led by a Girls Write Now facilitator through a series of prompts to write letters and help each other through this unusual and anxiety-producing time.
Mentees have a unique opportunity to share their experience, write alongside media professionals, and learn how Forbes employees are adapting to the unexpected. Mentors learn about the concerns of diverse NYC youth during the time of COVID-19 and a growing movement for racial justice. Participants will have the option to share their writing in the group chat or aloud, signed or anonymously.
This event is open to teens, college students, and Forbes employees only. Registration is required.
This workshop is brought to you by Writing Works, Girls Write Now’s workforce development program, matching young women and gender nonconforming youth with professionals across a broad range of industries, including behind-the-scenes experiences with our Agents of Change partners HBO/Warner Media, Comcast/NBCUniversal, Penguin Random House, the Royal Bank of Canada, Fresh, and many more.
