Community Prompt Party: The First, But Not the Last
November 12 – 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Let’s celebrate the first female vice president–elect! Write your own acceptance speech for when you’re elected to office with Anna Humphrey and Sarah Gruen, speechwriters from West Wing Writers.
Anna Humphrey is a Girls Write Now mentor and Senior Director at West Wing Writers. As a field organizer in six states during Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign, Anna learned what every good speechwriter knows: how to ask tough questions, and how to answer even tougher ones. Previously, Anna worked at the Washington Speakers Bureau, where she managed a portfolio of speechmakers that included former heads of government, business leaders and award-winning journalists. She is a native of Lexington, Kentucky, and a cum laude graduate of the University of Dayton. She lives in New York City’s East Village and volunteers as a mentor for Girls Write Now.
Sarah Gruen is a Girls Write Now mentor alum and Associate at West Wing Writers. She has written for Fortune 500 CEOs, Emmy Award-winning actors, and visionary leaders in government, technology, and philanthropy. Her words—on topics ranging from diversity and inclusion, to ethical technology, to the future of higher education—have been read in academic journals and national publications, and have been heard at college commencements and international conferences. Sarah graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University with degrees in political science and English. Originally from Connecticut, Sarah currently lives in New York City.
