I’m sure I’m not the only one counting down until the first Dorkshop of Fall 2012. Ladies, you’re in for quite a few treats. First of all, you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed, after all this is serious business. But NO FEAR, our spectacular facilitators, Parsons Design School graduate students Lauren, Kristen and Terese, are HERE! Being greeted by them is treat #1. You didn’t get to meet them at Dorkshop Orientation, but I promise they’re top notch. They love what they do, and can’t wait to teach you everything they know.
- Treat #2: Writing your big hearts out! Like we mentioned two weeks ago, the world of game design needs writers to help improve story lines. So we’re going to make sure you get your fill of writing at every dorkshop.
- Treat #3: Oh My Goodness! We’re going to learn some SKILLS! The beauty of these dorkshops is that the skills we learn here, are applicable in our daily lives. It doesn’t matter who we are or what we do, these dorkshops will give us a leg up. We’ll learn new programs, but also some basic technical tricks along the way.
- Treat #4: Did someone say “play testing”? Play testing is crucial to game design because it lets us know what works and what doesn’t. So, in addition to creating games, which in itself is ALREADY tons of fun, we get to play test the games…continuously!
Okay, take a moment to let this all soak in. You got it? Good. This is just the beginning, there will be many more treats along the way (like awesome snacks to munch on).
