Apolonia Aquirre

is a poet and a sophomore at Martin Luther King Art & Technology High School. She likes to write, draw and read classics such as Dante’s The Divine Comedy.

Jessica Batista

is a junior at Dewitt Clinton High School. She likes to write poetry, fiction and non-fiction. She is in a community service program at school and would like to become a judge.

Curmira Bill

is a sophomore at Urban Assembly of Design & Construction High School. She loves watching movies because they give her new writing ideas. She likes to play volleyball and hopes to learn more about writing professionally.

Shanequa Cook

is a senior at Brooklyn High School for Global Studies. She loves to write poetry, read and dance. She hopes to learn from other people and their writing experience.

Shelly-Ann Douglas

is a senior at Dewitt Clinton High School, returning to GWN for her third year. She writes poetry and also enjoys cooking, drawing, painting and reading.

Claudia Flobil

is a poet and a freshman at the International High School at Kingsborough Community College. She is part of her student government and also takes tap-dancing and theater classes.

Patrice Floy

is a senior at the Brooklyn High School for Global Studies. Her two passions are poetry and playwriting. She is also interested in fashion design and volunteers with a block association.

Jazmine Gray

is 16 years old and attends John Bowne High School. She writes poetry, fiction and non-fiction. Someday she hopes to be the editor or founder of a literary magazine.

Mary Guillermo

is a junior at the Brooklyn School for Global Studies. She enjoys writing fiction and plays. She also likes reading, walking and being part of her student government.

Tashay Harrop

is a sophomore who attends the High School for Science, Technology, and Research. She likes writing poetry and essays. She also likes to play tennis, work on her blog and collect stationery.

Johanna Hernandez

is 15 years and attends the Urban Assembly School of Music and Art. She writes poetry, likes to dance, box and be active.

is a sophomore at Edward R. Murrow High School. This is her second year with Girls Write Now.

Stephanie Huancas

is a junior at Francis Lewis High School. She writes poetry and fiction. Her other interests include reading, videogames, computers and martial arts.

Sarah Jang

is a creative writer and a junior at Francis Lewis High School. She loves to write fiction as well as volunteer, participate in her church and play the piano and flute.

Phantasia Johnson

is a sophomore at Brooklyn Preparatory High School. She writes poetry, songs and plays. She also likes to dance, sing and act in her school Drama Club.

Saleema Josey

is 16 years old and attends Talent Unlimited High School. She is studying musical theater and likes to write poetry, plays, essays and stories. Saleema is looking forward to meeting other people who write.

Monika Koszalka

is 18 years old and attends Stuyvesant High School. She likes to write fiction, essays, poetry and plays, and hopes to further develop her writing. She is looking forward to meeting others with similar interests.

Carmen Li

is 16 years old and attends Millenium Hgh School. She loves to use her imagination and enjoys reading fiction. She likes meeting new people and hopes to learn more about writing.

Cynthia Marino

is 17 years old and attends Dewitt Clinton High School. She has a deep passion for writing and hopes to learn new styles of writing. She also likes to play sports and read personal memoirs.

Claire Matern

is 16 years old and attends Milennium High School. She writes plays, poetry and short stories. Claire would like to expand her knowledge of writing and is looking forward to meeting new people.

Cassandre Nicolas

is a freshman at International High School at Kingsborough Community College. She likes to write songs and poems. She also enjoys listening to music, singing and playing her guitar.

Meghan Parrish

is 16 years old and a student at Millenium High School. She is a poet and essayist, and hopes to become a stronger writer. She is also interested in learning how to write in other genres.

is a junior at the Brooklyn High School for Global Studies. She writes poetry and short stories. Joella would like to become an even better writer and have her work published.

Elizabeth Perez

is a senior at Dewitt Clinton High School. She is a second-year GWN mentee who loves poetry, politics and music. She is proud to be part of the next generation of young women writers.

is a junior at Dewitt Clinton High School. She loves writing poetry and plays, and has been published in the International Library of Poetry, her school's literary magazine. Jessica is in the Dewitt Clinton band and considers herself a "rocker."

is a sophomore at John Dewey High School. She likes to write many genres including poetry, short stories and plays. She also enjoys singing, drawing and reading.

Laura Ramirez

is a junior at Baruch college. She has been a GWN mentee for four years and is now a mentor-in-training. She writes for the magazine and newspaper at Baruch.

is a junior at Mother Cabrini High School. She writes essays and plays, likes to read and paint, and is participating in the Shakespeare Competition.

Chau Tran “Pearl” Tang

is a senior at Brooklyn International High School, returning to GWN for her third year. She enjoys writing because she can express herself and improve her English.

Lauren Taylor

is a freshman at St. Francis Preparatory High School. She loves to write, especially poetry. She also enjoys dancing, choreography and swimming.

Natalia Vargas-Caba

is a junior at Bronx Aerospace Academy. She has enjoyed poetry for many years and recently discovered playwriting as her new passion. She looks forward to experimenting with different genres of writing in her second year with Girls Write Now.

Chensen Wang

is returning to GWN for her third year. She attends Brooklyn International High School and enjoys improving her writing and learning new skills.
