Wondering what it takes to write a winning college application essay? Come to any or all of these
FREE workshops and worry no further!

All Girls College Bound workshops are 100% free and open to all NYC high school girls.
 
 
Together, we'll explore our strengths and develop strategies for putting together an effective essay that will wow college admissions officers.  Led by veteran writing teachers from NYU and Columbia University, this three-part series will guide you through the college essay writing process from generating an original topic to editing and polishing a final draft.
 
Workshop 1, July 15: Beginning the College Application Essay
In this workshop, you'll begin to identify what makes you singular and special and then draft an essay that reflects these qualities with more complexity and depth. Everyone will leave the workshop with a draft that they can polish in the next two workshops.

Workshop 2, July 22: Writing the College Application Essay
In this workshop, you'll craft an essay based on prompts from the Common College Application. Participants will emerge with a draft that they can polish in the last workshop.

Workshop 3, July 29: Refining the College Application Essay
For this workshop, you'll learn strategies for revising and polishing your writing and then put them to practice by editing your essays from workshops 1 or 2 OR a previously written personal essay, getting individual and peer critique on your work. Make sure to bring your drafts! You will emerge with a finished piece of writing you can use for future applications.
