Help Girls Write Forever!

Our girls' continued success—and our sustainability—depends entirely on the commitment and generosity of our growing base of donors and volunteers.

Recent accomplishments include:

  • Class of 2011 mentees have matriculated at schools including Brown, Kenyon, Duke, Hamilton, Mount Holyoke, Dickinson, Agnes Scott, and Amherst.
  • Scholarships earned by our graduating mentees include: the Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship; the Posse Scholarship; and Bryn Mawr's 125th Anniversary Women's Scholarship.

  • Mentees were awarded 25 Gold and Silver Keys and 2 National Medals from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
  • Girls Write Now and our community members were featured in The Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, Time Out New York, and USA Today, to name just a few publications.

  • 10 Girls Write Now poets were invited to the White House on May 11, 2011; the day, hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama, featured Elizabeth Alexander, Rita Dove, Billy Collins, Common, Aimee Mann, and other cultural luminaries.
