PROGRAM INTERN & DEVELOPMENT-COMMUNICATIONS INTERN, Spring & Summer 2012

Girls Write Now is currently accepting applications for volunteer or for-credit interns for both the Spring & Summer 2012. 

Interns will gain valuable experience with a fast-growing nationally recognized non-profit organization and also enhance his/her career opportunities in the literary and arts education professions. Strong writers with a keen interest in literature, youth education, non-profit management, and women's issues will be positioned to network with a wide range of professional women writers and gain hands-on experience working with New York City high school youth. Volunteers receive training and support, as well as frequent and constructive communication to ensure an educational and rewarding internship.

• Spring internships run from March-June and require 12-16 in-office hours per week, plus one Saturday event and one Friday evening event monthly. 

• Summer internships run from May-August and require 12-16 in-office hours per week. Applicants who are iterested in remaining a part of GWN for another internship season in the Fall are strongly encouraged to apply. 

Program Interns will report directly to program staff, assisting with key aspects of enrollment, curriculum, pair support, and communications, as well as day-to-day operations. Development Interns will report directly to development staff, assisting with key aspects of funder research, proposal drafting and packaging, outreach, and communications (written, email, and web), as well as day-to-day operations. 

Requirements:

• Passion for the Girls Write Now mission and a desire to learn on the job
• Flexibility and initiative to work on projects both independently and as part of a team
• Organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
• Some college education
• Database proficiency

• Web design, and content management experience preferred

• Web research experience preferred
