Who

You! We are counting on each mentor, board member, and friend of the community to ensure that Girls Write Now continues to thrive. This event is open to the public, so please bring friends and family, colleagues and neighbors, your own mentors, or anyone else you know who shares Girls Write Now's mission.

What

An evening of food, drink, and fun, and the official launch of our holiday appeal drive. We will be toasting our girls' amazing successes while we address and send appeal letters to sustain and grow our critical, groundbreaking programs.

Why

Meet the amazing, talented writers and activists--your fellow mentors, board members, and friends of Girls Write Now--who raise our organization to the highest level of excellence.

Last year, when the economy was at its worst and many nonprofits were forced to downsize, we exceeded our $50,000 holiday appeal goal by $20,000. We did this through the power of your words. The majority of our donations came in response to snail mail letters with personal notes.

This year, we have set the goal to raise $75,000--and also to increase our network of supporters by 50%--meaning every donor, no matter how small, really matters.

Board Members, this is a great way to raise your annual gift!

Your Pledge

At last Saturday's workshop...

Mentors in the AM session pledged to send 164 letters
PM mentors pledged 277 letters!

How many letters do you pledge to send?

Lets break open the wine and get that mail out the door!

Please Bring

Your address books--paper, digital, or a combination. We'll provide everything from letter templates, stamps and envelopes to art supplies and blank paper, so you can personalize the notes you'll be sending to your contacts.

Ideas for Letter Recipients

At the party, we'll be asking you to write letters to anyone who you think would want to support the next generation of women writers....

*Your own mentor, who'd be delighted to know about your high-profile role in a fantastic nonprofit
*Sorority sisters or college pals who've gone on to City Council or other well-connected gigs
*Friends who grew up in NYC who'd be all over a project that empowers public school students
*A favorite professor thrilled when she hears the words "100 percent college acceptance rate"
*The owner of your favorite bookstore
*Book club members
*Educators
*Your co-worker who always asks for 20 bucks for her next indie film
*Who can forget dear old Mom and Dad?
*Hey, whoever you're proud to call your inspiration!
