Mentee Handbook

Girls Write Now (GWN) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization and public charity that provides a safe, nurturing environment for girls to cultivate their natural writing talents, develop writing skills in different genres and build confidence in making healthy choices in school, career and life.

This handbook is an updated, concise accumulation of knowledge and your guide to the most fundamental aspects of your work with Girls Write Now. It is designed to be a ready resource and key reference to many of your questions and doubts. Use it in conjunction with your support from your mentor and the full GWN community to build a strong, memorable and rewarding writing experience. Inside, you’ll get a closer look at the nuts and bolts that keep our community strong, and you’ll find more information about how to make the most of your time with us. Like GWN itself, this handbook is dynamic; it grows and changes as the organization evolves. As you proceed through your year, bring us your feedback and ideas.
