Unlike many larger non-profits, Girls Write Now does not have an endowment, which means we need to raise every dollar anew each year to maintain our programs and services for this deserving community.
“Girls Write Now is not only a community but a force of nature. No one — girl, mentor, adviser, volunteer, board member — comes into contact with Girls Write Now without being inspired to change the world and to work together for a more just and peaceful planet.” — Nancy K. Miller, author and GWN board member
Writing passionately is many things: an act of power, an act of courage, an act of generosity. Every member of our community shares a passion for mastering our craft and a deep conviction that our work has the power to enrich the lives of others as well as our own.
Join us, with the gift of your time or your talent. We’re building a community of confident women, a community that takes girls seriously for who they are as well as who they will become.
As a mentor, you will open doors for girls to define what they want their lives to look like and help them develop the confidence to state their case.
Take the fierce words in your journal and turn them into original stories, poems, plays, songs, and more. Apply to get a writing mentor.
100% of seniors in our mentoring program graduate high school and go on to college. We intend to continue our record by guiding girls through the college application process with proper tools and resources, and getting them accepted into the schools of their dreams.
From a veteran Board member to an intern on her first day in the office, everyone takes a stake in the community. Whether that’s crafting a writing workshop or throwing a benefit party, volunteers lend their leadership, along with their considerable talents, enthusiasm, and commitment to our mentees.
